Fair Housing Notice

Last updated October 22, 2026

NuvaPaws supports the federal Fair Housing Act and the principle of equal housing opportunity.

What we do

We publish pet-policy facts only. We do not participate in tenant selection, we do not collect or display information about protected characteristics, and we treat every renter who contacts us the same way.

Assistance animals are not pets

Under the Fair Housing Act, assistance animals — service animals and emotional support animals — are not pets. A housing provider must consider a reasonable accommodation request for an assistance animal regardless of the property’s breed, weight or “no pets” rules, and may not charge pet deposits, pet fees or pet rent for an assistance animal. Providers may still act on an individual animal’s actual behavior.

Our guide Service animals, ESAs and breed restrictions explains how to make a request and what documentation can and cannot be asked for. It is written for renters and is not legal advice.

Report a concern

If you believe a listing or a property is discriminating, you can file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) or your state’s fair-housing agency. You can also tell us at nuvapaws@nuvapaws.com and we will review the listing.
